First of all, I had just been at a very fancy reception party at\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelcommonwealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotel\u00a0Commonwealth<\/a> a few\u00a0weeks\u00a0prior to accept\u00a0Boston\u00a0Magazine\u2019s\u00a0\u201cBest Wedding band 2016\u201d award for <a href=\"http:\/\/murrayhilltalent.com\/wedding\/boston-wedding-bands\/flipside\/\">Flipside<\/a>, so I felt quite \u00a0positive about doing an\u00a0event in\u00a0their newly renovated ballroom. Secondly,\u00a0being so close to the Island Creek\u00a0restaurant \u00a0I had some deigns on some Duxbury oysters\u00a0before\u00a0the\u00a0wedding. There was a Red Sox game scheduled\u00a0for\u00a0the same night, so I was quite pleased\u00a0that all my\u00a0band members got there\u00a0early enough to thwart\u00a0the extra traffic, \u00a0find parking, etc. The\u00a0event\u00a0staff at\u00a0the venue\u00a0bring a youthful and \u00a0positive energy to the night, which is always welcome to a band trying to get in\u00a0the right frame of mind to rock a party, of\u00a0course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For\u00a0the first dance, Josh and Jackie chose\u00a0\u201cComing\u00a0Home\u201d by Leon Bridges- an excellent Sam Cooke style tune\u00a0that is\u00a0just\u00a0the\u00a0perfect thing to show off\u00a0the soul power of our lead vocalist, David Jiles Jr. Of course, \u00a0the first\u00a0dance is all about the bride and groom and\u00a0that\u2019s where\u00a0the focus should always be, but it never hurts when it\u2019s a song \u00a0the\u00a0band can\u00a0really knock out of\u00a0the park. It\u00a0helps us make a\u00a0strong first impression.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><div class=\"hb-box-frame  \"><span><a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/murrayhilltalent.com\/wedding\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/Corin-Rocking-Tele.png\" width=\"\" height=\"\" alt=\"Image\"\/><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Photos by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danaguirre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Aguirre<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Guests came\u00a0for all over\u00a0the world\u00a0for \u00a0this\u00a0one,\u00a0but a lot\u00a0of\u00a0the groom&#8217;s family were\u00a0from London which\u00a0thrilled\u00a0my little Anglophile heart, of\u00a0course. English wedding guests often means two things: great hats on\u00a0the ladies and excellent toasts to follow. The father\u00a0of\u00a0the groom gave a sarcastic but affectionate welcome toast that\u00a0had the entire crowd- including\u00a0the\u00a0band members-\u00a0howling\u00a0with\u00a0laughter. It was\u00a0also a Jewish\u00a0wedding\u00a0and we\u00a0unleashed one of\u00a0the\u00a0most\u00a0raucous horas we\u00a0have\u00a0ever been part of! To kick off\u00a0the\u00a0dancing, we played an\u00a0uptempo medley of Hava Nagilla, Simon Tov, a bit of Dodoi Li and back to Hava Nagilla\u00a0for the big finish. By\u00a0the end of\u00a0that, we\u00a0had everybody on\u00a0the dance floor and went right into a set of high energy\u00a0Motown, 80s and 90s hits and a bit of Top 40 that\u00a0kept people of all ages dancing for\u00a0the rest of\u00a0the night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This wedding hit all\u00a0the right notes for me as a\u00a0bandleader.
