You\u2019re getting dressed to go to your friend\u2019s wedding and you\u2019re already humming Don\u2019t Stop Believin\u2019. \u00a0But how?! \u00a0You\u2019re 28 years old and that song came out in 1981! \u00a0Well, some songs have transcended time and space and have cemented themselves as fixtures in ballrooms and reception tents across America. \u00a0Love them OR hate them, they\u2019re here to stay, so let\u2019s talk about it! \u00a0In no particular order, here are 10 songs that simply won\u2019t quit.<\/div>\n

#1 \u00a0 Don\u2019t Stop Believin\u2019<\/i> – Journey (1981)<\/span><\/h2>\n
I think the human species is born with this song already inside of them. \u00a0Some of us may grow to hate it or its sentimentality only grips us further the older we get. \u00a0Either way, it\u2019s not going away. \u00a0It is one of the songs I\u2019ve played the most in my career and it\u2019s not for me – it\u2019s for the people.<\/span><\/div>\n

#2 \u00a0\u00a0Uptown Funk – <\/i>Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars (2015)<\/span><\/h2>\n
Now 8 years removed from it\u2019s release, one of the words most\u00a0associated with this song is\u00a0\u201coverplayed\u201d. \u00a0And I get it! \u00a0I play it a lot. \u00a0But I can\u2019t stop\u00a0because people dance. \u00a0That\u2019s why this song is timeless. \u00a0It is the ultimate party song, it\u2019s infectious, and people of all ages know it.<\/span><\/div>\n

#3 \u00a0 <\/b>I Want You Back – <\/i>The Jackson 5 (1969)<\/span><\/h2>\n
OK, now we\u2019re back\u00a0to 1969 and you all know the words! \u00a0I often start my dance sets with this song. \u00a0It opens with a great energy and it lets\u00a0the crowd know I\u2019m there for all ages. \u00a0People want to dance to songs they know the words to and 10 times out of 10, this one\u2019s a winner.<\/span><\/div>\n

#4 \u00a0 Crazy In Love – <\/i>Beyonce ft. Jay-Z (2003)<\/span><\/h2>\n
Now we\u2019re getting into interesting territory. \u00a0Most of my current\u00a0couples were\u00a0born in the 90s so their parents\u00a0were still pretty young in 2003. \u00a0This song was\u00a0big\u00a0when you were a\u00a0kid but also struck a note with your parents so in 2023 we\u2019re\u00a0crossing\u00a0generations with this\u00a0nightly floor filler!<\/span><\/div>\n

#5 \u00a0 Dancing Queen – <\/i>Abba (1976)<\/span><\/h2>\n
Boy did Abba cash in with the <\/span>Mama Mia! <\/i>movie and musical. \u00a0<\/span>Dancing Queen <\/i>was\u00a0already a household song title but by the film\u2019s release in 2008, moms and dads across the WORLD were\u00a0itching to share these festive songs with their kids\u00a0and it\u2019s still one of the most\u00a0popular songs I play.<\/span><\/div>\n

#6 \u00a0 <\/span>September <\/i>– Earth Wind&\u00a0Fire (1978)<\/span><\/h2>\n
Do you\u00a0remember? \u00a0The 21st night of September? \u00a0Of course you do! \u00a0The horn section kicks in and you\u2019re on the\u00a0dance floor. \u00a0In some cases, even if you don\u2019t particularly <\/span>like <\/i>the song, it\u2019s hard to deny it when it\u2019s banging from a\u00a0great sound system and most of your friends and\u00a0family are on board!<\/span><\/div>\n

#7 \u00a0 Shut Up and Dance – <\/i>WALK THE MOON (2014)<\/span><\/h2>\n
The title speaks for\u00a0itself. \u00a0I can\u00a0honestly say I\u2019ve never never seen\u00a0this song on a\u00a0\u201cDo Not Play\u201d list. \u00a0It has an undeniable energy and it\u2019s clean,\u00a0innocent fun. \u00a0The 5-year-olds and the 70-year-olds are all helpless against its powers. \u00a0And it tells you what to do. \u00a0Don\u2019t resist!<\/span><\/div>\n

#8 \u00a0 I Wanna Dance With Somebody – <\/i>Whitney Houston (1987)<\/span><\/h2>\n
I would guess this my most requested song. \u00a0It\u2019s a staple and even if it\u2019s not\u00a0specifically\u00a0requested, it\u2019s a sure winner to get people moving. \u00a0There are several songs a DJ leans on when\u00a0the dance\u00a0floor could use a little reviving. \u00a0This is an ace in the hole!<\/span><\/div>\n

#9 \u00a0 <\/span>Ain<\/i>\u2019<\/i><\/span>t No Mountain High Enough – <\/i>Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell (1967)<\/span><\/h2>\n
Straight up family\u00a0favorite. \u00a0Given a resurgence from an iconic scene in the 1998\u00a0movie <\/span>Stepmom<\/i>, this\u00a0song makes you reach for mountains and valleys, all while creating memories with cherished family members on one of the most important days of your lives.<\/span><\/div>\n

#10 \u00a0 Shout – <\/i>Isley Brothers (1959)<\/span><\/h2>\n
My most timeless song, simply because it\u2019s the oldest and still one of\u00a0the most\u00a0requested songs at every wedding. \u00a0It is the definition of bringing people together. \u00a0It is the\u00a0culmination of hours spent sweating on the dance floor. \u00a0No one is sitting at their tables. \u00a0Everyone is getting a little bit louder now and a little bit softer now. \u00a0If a song can make a hundred people practically lie down on the floor, how can you deny it?!<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
