{"id":6428,"date":"2020-05-18T17:16:08","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T17:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/murrayhilltalent.com\/wedding\/?p=6428"},"modified":"2020-05-18T17:16:15","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T17:16:15","slug":"covid-19-wedding-restrictions-boston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/murrayhilltalent.com\/wedding\/covid-19-wedding-restrictions-boston\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid 19 Wedding Restrictions Boston"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"\">I am a DJ\u00a0in the private event industry. \u00a0I have been for 14 years. \u00a0I\u2019ve been fortunate enough to work for a successful company, making a comfortable living out of playing music for people. \u00a0If you asked me in 2006, when I started, if this would be my career, I\u2019d probably have said no. \u00a0As it turns out, I\u2019m pretty good at it, and I take pride in the longevity I\u2019ve sustained in a fast paced and ever changing business.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">And then there\u2019s\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">THE VIRUS<\/a>. \u00a0The words \u201cGlobal Pandemic\u201d are reserved for movies, right? \u00a0Nothing gets in the way of weddings in New England. \u00a0Boston will always be a hub for large scale corporate gatherings. \u00a0My job will always be safe, won\u2019t it? \u00a0In the past two months I\u2019ve been saddled with the unfortunate answer. \u00a0Everything you work for can and will be taken away if the perfect storm comes together. \u00a0You don\u2019t get to choose.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">It\u2019s no secret that weddings in New England revolve around the weather. \u00a0Every venue and vendor hopes to have a schedule in March, and even April, before the weather improves and the bounty returns. \u00a0When my events in March started being canceled, the magnitude of the situation became impossible to ignore. \u00a0All of us in the industry collectively looked at each other and said, as if in stereo, \u201cOh shit\u201d. \u00a0Even then, though, the idea of our summer schedule being taken from us seemed like a stretch. \u00a0Surely \u201csomeone\u201d would figure this out, take care of it, and another dangerous disease would stay sequestered far away from our bubble. \u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">As a person whose only source of income requires him to be in rooms with large crowds of people, watching the news unfold was my nightmare. \u00a0The only way to combat this threat was to essentially eliminate gatherings; the thing I\u2019ve relied on for all these years. \u00a0Two months ago, my professional concerns were very much about the moment. \u00a0The March 10th corporate event that was canceled; I was really counting on that money. \u00a0Another one the following week; now what?
