I’ve been a wedding DJ in Boston for 13 years. I’ve never seen what I saw at the Gardens at Elm Bank on July 6th! In all my years it was the worst weather I’ve ever seen at wedding time. Sheets of heavy rain began to fall right before the ceremony, accompanied by jarring thunder and flashes of lightening. With the ceremony moved into the dining room, guests sat their seats while the bridesmaids lined up for their entrance. And then… the power went out. Yep, no light other than what crept through the window. The picture doesn’t even do justice to how dark it was. The unplugged Infinity Strings trio from Murray Hill Talent was a godsend as the music was still beautiful and even a bit haunting during a near invisible processional. Guests held cell phone flashlights high to give a glimpse of our bride, Katie, as she walked down the aisle, smiling all the way. The officiant, a seasoned pro I’ve worked with before, carried a battery powered speaker and her own mic so amplification of voices was crystal clear, even without power. At cocktail hour, folks mingled amid a few strobes of light coming from the carriage house windows. Infinity Strings played on and by the time they were done, generators were onsite to save the day! Big shouts out go to the Elm Bank staff and to Home Depot for the quick response time that brought us light and music! No one was phased and everyone went home with a great story, including Katie and Sean. As you can see, everyone hit the dance floor without hesitation and even busted the moves to one of their favorite songs, Gangnam Style!
