Flipside absolutely rocked the wedding of Jenny Johnson, producer and co-host of NESN’s “Dining Playbook,” and Robert Cocuzzo, the editor of Nantucket Magazine, this past fall at the Boston Public Library.
The wedding was officiated by Charlie Kravetz, general manager of WBUR, who happens to be Johnson’s first boss and longtime mentor. Kravetz has also known Cocuzzo and his family for years — Cocuzzo’s father is a barber who has cut Kravetz’s hair for decades — and the couple said the shared connection made him the perfect candidate.
Billy Costa, Johnson’s cohost on “Dining Playbook” and her longtime business partner, was her “man of honor” for the ceremony — alongside her sister, who was the maid of honor.
The BPL itself was also a guest of honor in the ceremony; it’s where Cocuzzo wrote his first book, and it “signifies Boston for both of us,” Johnson said. Table & Tulip handled flowers, Montilios Bakery did the beautiful cake and Flipside from Murray Hill Talent was the band for the reception. Murray Hill Talent also arranged to have a grand piano delivered to the courtyard of the BPL for the ceremony where Flipside vocalist Tori Boyd sang a gorgeous version of “Edelweiss” as the processional song.
In planning the music for the night, Flipside bandleader Corin Ashley discovered that in addition to being big fan of the 80s, Jenny is a huge Billy Joel fan and was able to incorporate several Billy Joel requests including “Just The Way You Are” for the couple’s first dance, “Only the Good Die Young” and a rousing arm- in-arm sing- along of “Piano Man ” to end the night. The packed dance floor included included Linda Holliday and Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Tom Werner, Kiss 108’s Lisa Donovan, restaurateur Ed Kane, designer Tonya and author Ben Mezrich, Davio’s boss Steve DiFillippo, and Matty in the Morning”’s Matt Siegel.
