Why a blog about an engagement party you ask? \u00a0This one was all about the venue. \u00a0In 10 years, I\u2019ve worked at The Country Club<\/a> in Chestnut Hill once, inside one of the clubhouse function rooms. \u00a0This place is so old and well known, it can simply go by the name \u201cThe Country Club\u201d and people know what you\u2019re talking about. \u00a0It\u2019s one of the oldest in the country, 1882 to be exact! \u00a0But one of our DJs, Brian Delac<\/a>, had been at the Club a couple weeks before me and worked in something called \u201cThe Pond House\u201d on the same property. \u00a0He said it was on the water and to \u201cwear extra socks\u201d. \u00a0Haha! \u00a0I love the new experiences. \u00a0It\u2019s rare I get to check out new venues nowadays and this one sounded interesting. \u00a0Wayyyyyy at the back of the golf course, far from the main club itself, is a pond, shielded by what looked in the dark like a log cabin. \u00a0There was some smoke coming from the chimney. \u00a0It was very picturesque. \u00a0I actually couldn\u2019t believe an event was going to take place there. \u00a0I had to drive down there it was so far! \u00a0After unloading I was shuttled back up to park my car and then shuttled back down. \u00a0I couldn\u2019t imagine how long this structure had been there but they had a \u201cskate house\u201d where you could hang your belongings and change into your ice skates to go out onto the pond!! \u00a0How cool is that! \u00a0The pond wasn\u2019t frozen that night but had it been, the guests would have had that to look forward to as well. \u00a0Interesting tidbit of information I learned from the man throwing the party – NBC TV broadcasted the Ryder Cup golf tournament there years ago and told them they\u2019d like to film the broadcasters in front of the pond and they\u2019d have to knock down The Pond House. \u00a0They said after it was rebuilt, to send them the bill and they\u2019d pay for it. \u00a0That\u2019s CRAZY money. \u00a0It didn\u2019t end up happening but was a neat story.<\/p>\n

\"Pond<\/a>The happy couple who\u2019d just been engaged danced the night away under twinkling Christmas lights, beside a roaring fire. \u00a0It was gorgeous and I was really grateful that the bride\u2019s mom, Donna, had called and asked us to provide the entertainment. \u00a0There\u2019s so many little corners of the city, right outside our back door, that hold massive amounts of history. \u00a0I wandered around the deck in front of the pond, checking out the moon and enjoying the sounds of silence after the guests had left. \u00a0What a spectacular event. \u00a0Thanks to J.J. at The Country Club and to my new friend Donna for having me!<\/p>\n
