Throwing a laid-back, rustic, DIY wedding or event in a converted barn, farm, or winery, and looking for the perfect band? A few years ago, a corporate event planner requested a band to match their “fall-fest” themed decor: pumpkins, hay bales, scarecrow, decorative gourds – a lot of of decorative gourds! We always enjoy a creative challenge and created a group that fit the bill, and then some. We could have just suggested one of our genuine bluegrass bands (which are great), but we felt the repertoire can be a bit limited for a longer event. We’ve learned over the years that while the sound and musicianship of a band is important, it’s the recognizability of the songs that really engage and impress the guests at an event.
Sweet Pea is a small, acoustic band comprised of acoustic guitar, mandolin/accordion, upright bass and fiddle accompanying four-part vocal harmonies. The catch is that they play vintage, bluegrass-inspired interpretations of everything from classic and modern country songs to classic rock, 80’s, 90’s pop hits, Irish and British pub songs, traditional bluegrass and everything in between. It’s a real hoot. On their own, Sweet Pea can be perfect for background music and possibly some light dancing. Paired with a DJ, we can take care of an entire evening’s worth of cocktail, dinner and dancing music.
Check out the new promo video we just shot, which includes a sampling of the variety of songs we’re capable of playing!
