The Tall Ships stopped off in Boston this summer as part of their Rendez-Vous 2017 Regatta. Murray Hill Talent was honored to provide of slew of great Bands and DJs for various events in the Seaport District for the festivities. This has been an amazing opportunity for us to be so integrally involved in this exciting week long Boston event. Various entertainers such as Redline, Endless Summer, Paul Natale and Eastern Standard performed from a variety of staging areas in front of select restaurants near Northern Avenue such as Tony C’s and Whiskey Priest. Groups also performed right in the middle of Northern Avenue on the Admirals Stage. Equipment had to be brought in prior to the weekend due to the intense security screening and pedestrian/car traffic.
One performance in particular seemed to stand out. Popular dance band Redline performed Sunday, 6/18/17 at the Admiral’s Stage on Northern Avenue. We talked to the band director Ken Freeman about the event.
“The band said they started their set with the hope of getting a few people up and dancing but assuming that because people were there to see the ships that we might not have a huge dancing crowd. Not only was I wrong but when we looked out from the stage we could see not just the visitors for the event but also large groups of the staff and vendors smiling, dancing and singing along to the songs. Playing a wide variety of songs is fun and we are used to high energy dance sets and love to get people up and dancing but we had a sweet moment watching a young couple slow dance to “Like I’m going to lose you” which absolutely made my day.
The view from the front of the stage was the park but behind us were all of these amazing tall ships! Something that I’ll never get over in this business is how lucky we are to be able to not only see and experience these rare and splendid sights but that we get to bring the party and make everyone smile and dance!”
