Moulin Rouge Party at Whiskey Saigon Thu, 01 Mar 2018 15:50:28 +0000 Moulin Rouge Anyone?

When I heard that Direct Travel was holding their convention’s after party at Whisky Saigon, I was totally pumped.  Having worked there before and having had my promotional photo shoot there as well, I couldn’t wait to go back.  There’s no better feeling for me than being in cozy confines of a professional DJ booth.  All the wires, monitors, and wear and tear of past DJs is comforting to me.  Then when I heard the theme of the event was Moulin Rouge, it made perfect sense.  The rich, deep, dark interior with its pops of crimson make Whisky Saigon the perfect place for such a theme.  I also took it as an excuse to find something a little more outlandish in my wardrobe!  The guests were treated to surprise dances from Can-Can dancers provided by Ten31 Productions.  They provided me with their music selections ahead of time and we did a run through before anyone else arrived.  We’ve worked with Joe and Alicia at Ten31 for many years and they are a top notch service provider for Boston corporate events.  We also booked solo vocalist Tori Boyd to sing Lady Marmalade, the version made popular by the Moulin Rouge film.  I played a specially edited track and she belted out every note, high and low, to the roar of cheering guests.  We were able get some amazing photographs from the extremely talented Allison Evans, who was onsite snapping pics all night!
Being a corporate event DJ is fun because I get to meet people from all over the country and sometimes from around the world.  Boston is a popular destination for corporate outings because of its rich American history, its wealth of large hotels and convention centers, and it’s walkability.  The next time Direct Travel comes back, I’ll be ready!  Can we do Gatsby next?

Can you hear me now? Tue, 27 Feb 2018 16:14:42 +0000 Can you hear me now? Too loud?

Murray Hill Talent had a fun event for Destination Partners Events at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel for the American Automobile Association. Celebrity Paul Marcarelli (“Can You Hear me Now”) of Verizon and now Sprint TV commercial fame was on hand. Achieving his Warholian 15 minutes of fame 1 minute at a time! Photographer Scott D’Agostino was on hand to document everything.

Tom Pendergast headed the Jazz Trio Twilight providing the music backdrop. Unfortunately the members of Twilight hadn’t accumulated their 15 minutes of fame yet and don’t quite qualify for celebrity status (5 min of fame?). Regardless the band sounded great. The cocktail hour was a precursor to a night of festivities and everyone was in great spirits. Even though the event was for AAA, the cars never left the hotel garage that night!

Venetian Masquerade DJ Wed, 20 Dec 2017 19:48:14 +0000 We supplied the DJ for an amazing company holiday party at the Westin Waterfront Hotel-Boston, MA for TripAdvisor.  The theme of the party was Venetian Masquerade so the night started off with some classical Italian Waltzes from Domenico Scarlatti & Caudio Monteverdi and moved into modern sensual compositions by Aram Khachaturian, Robert Austin, and Derek Fletcher.  Once the mood was set, the gloves came off and the beats started to drop.  Some floor fillers of the night included Despacito, Firework and Bust a Move (because, why not ?)    Other entertainment for the night included acrobats and artistic stilt walkers.  About 1500 guests were in attendance and they came to party.  A special shout out to DPI events for making this party one of the best of the year.

Boston Tall Ship Events Fri, 28 Jul 2017 19:45:25 +0000 The Tall Ships stopped off in Boston this summer as part of their Rendez-Vous 2017 Regatta.  Murray Hill Talent was honored to provide of slew of great Bands and DJs for various events in the Seaport District for the festivities.   This has been an amazing opportunity for us to be so integrally involved in this exciting week long Boston event. Various entertainers such as Redline, Endless Summer, Paul Natale and Eastern Standard performed from a variety of staging areas in front of  select restaurants near Northern Avenue such as Tony C’s and Whiskey Priest.  Groups also performed right in the middle of Northern Avenue on the Admirals Stage.  Equipment had to be brought in prior to the weekend due to the intense security screening and pedestrian/car traffic.

One performance in particular seemed to stand out.  Popular dance band Redline performed Sunday, 6/18/17 at the Admiral’s Stage on Northern Avenue.  We talked to the band director Ken Freeman about the event.

“The band said they started their set with the hope of getting a few people up and dancing but assuming that because people were there to see the ships that we might not have a huge dancing crowd. Not only was I wrong but when we looked out from the stage we could see not just the visitors for the event but also large groups of the staff and vendors smiling, dancing and singing along to the songs. Playing a wide variety of songs is fun and we are used to high energy dance sets and love to get people up and dancing but we had a sweet moment watching a young couple slow dance to “Like I’m going to lose you” which absolutely made my day.

The view from the front of the stage was the park but behind us were all of these amazing tall ships! Something that I’ll never get over in this business is how lucky we are to be able to not only see and experience these rare and splendid sights but that we get to bring the party and make everyone smile and dance!”

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Event in Quechee VT Tue, 20 Jun 2017 18:36:32 +0000 Have you ever been to Quechee Vermont? I now have and can’t stop raving about the views and how nice everyone is there.

6/10/17 we had the privilege to perform for the Dartmouth Neurosurgery graduation. Aside from the fact that this program is 7 years long and the doctors will be operating on peoples brains and spines, this extremely talented and smart group of doctors know how to party! This was their first graduation party with a band and I’m so glad that they chose Redline. In a secluded farmhouse on a beautiful lake we rocked the night and had a group of the smartest people that we’ll probably ever meet on the dance floor from the first note to the last.

And if we needed any proof that we crushed it on Saturday the email rehiring the band on Monday morning for 2018 sealed the deal! Can’t wait to do it all again in 2018!
