Our DJs share a common philosophy: play the right music, and people will dance. We do not pass out props, wear costumes, play games, teach line dances, sing or talk incessantly over the music. We value your input when it comes to musical requests, and we strictly adhere to “Play” and “Do Not Play” lists. We use state of the art laptop and speaker systems, and carry sufficient backup equipment to every event. Our extensive music libraries ensure that we will have all the music you and your guests want to hear, no matter the era or style.

Our Disc Jockeys have thousands of song titles to choose from. Whether it’s Top 40, Disco, Big Band Swing, Oldies, Rock, Motown, R&B, Reggae, Classical, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Country, Ethnic, Electronic, or beyond, we have enough musical variety at our disposal to make everyone happy. Regardless how much thought and planning go into an event, no one can predict how guests will react to certain songs. Our experienced DJs know how to read the room and make the best possible song selections to take your party where you want it to go. Guests are usually welcome to make requests unless you specify otherwise. Events can be customized to suit specific styles and song selections, and Murray Hill will be happy to purchase or supply any specific songs you may need for your event. Clients are always welcome to supply music in good condition from their own collections for our DJs to play. All of our DJs will provide continuous, uninterrupted music throughout your entire event.

event planning
“Perfect events don’t happen by accident, they happen with thorough proper planning and communication.” For most engagements, a phone consultation a few weeks prior to your event to go over event flow, music styles, formalities and announcements should suffice. Our full time staff insures that we are always accessible and available to speak with you when its convenient to you.

equipment
Our disc jockeys show up to every event with state of the art, pro-audio equipment suited for the size of the room and the number of guests. Most of our DJs use laptop systems with 7-8,000 songs. (High sample rate MP3 and wave files.). Club style turntable and CD systems are also available. Many of our DJs’ have wireless capabilities so they can download songs at the event if necessary. For events requiring the re-location of equipment to a separate room or destination, extra speakers and specialty configurations maybe available upon request for an additional fee. Our DJs are experts at monitoring the room for appropriate sounds levels; therefore uncomfortable volume levels will never be an issue.

disc jockey requirements
Over the years, our company has developed close working relationships with most major function venues throughout the Northeast. This enables our company to stay current with information regarding set-up areas, load-in procedures and directions to your venue. For events taking place at private residences, at least one six-foot skirted table set up adjacent to the dancing area, and within 25 feet of a dedicated electrical outlet at least one hour prior to start time is required. Since disc jockeys will be performing for multiple hours and they will not be able to travel off-site, it is customary for clients to provide the DJ with a hot balanced meal.

dj arrival & dress code
Disc Jockeys will arrive at the event site approximately one hour prior to the designated start time of your event. An additional charge may apply for events requiring early set ups or extraordinary circumstances. Our dress requirement for all functions is generally a dark suit and tie unless requested otherwise. Other forms of dress may include: Tuxedo, Business Casual, Beach Attire, etc. Please let us know your dress preferences prior to your event.

overtime & travel
DJs are available for overtime based on half hour increments. For events taking place in the evening, overtime is almost always available. For events taking place in the day, it is possible your disc jockeys may have other obligations after your event and will not be flexible with overtime. You should always find out the possibility of your DJ performing overtime before reserving them. Regarding travel, events taking place more than one hour from the Boston Metro area may incur additional travel charges.

back up plans
We have a staff of about eight DJs, and on any given night, we never have more than six DJs working, so there will always be at least one of us on call. All of our Disc Jockeys have AAA service, and bring backup gear to every event. If your Disc Jockey is unable to perform due to an emergency situation, Murray Hill guarantees your event will go perfectly as planned. We have backup disc jockeys and equipment available 24 hours a day, as well as an emergency hotline so that we may be contacted around the clock in order to provide assistance to clients and artists for events in progress.
