Embracing a growing trend in the wedding band scene, to boldly go where most bands have never gone before----off the Top 40 song list!
A lot of bands claim that they are “not your typical wedding band” but the Prenups truly are not. This compact, powerhouse outfit is a lean, mean party machine made up of some of the top indie rock musicians from Boston and New York (The Figgs, The Gravel Pit, The Gentlemen, The Candy-Butchers; google them, you'll be impressed). The band's motivation to come together and play private occasions is the love and enjoyment of playing together. Unlike common variety wedding bands, The Prenups play their own sets of energized party music from the 50s', 60s', 70s' and selective 80s'. Their style focuses on rock&roll and raw r&b/soul music from artists such as Elvis, Rolling Stones, Beatles, David Bowie, Otis Redding, Al Green, Isley Brothers, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, etc.
The songs they choose to cover are based on their sheer energy and the results they bring on the dance floor. They are not defined by trying to appeal to the widest range of guests with a "lowest common denominator" repertoire. For clients looking for an extremely broad range of musical styles and songs from oldies to current hits, this band is NOT for you. Clients looking for less obvious selections played with genuine energy and emotion should definitely consider The Prenups.
All of the members of The Prenups are very active in playing their own music, as well as recording and producing other people’s music. They have intentionally avoided dedicating their lives to playing wedding music full time. But the demand is there and they are thrilled to follow through!
The band members' resumes include everything from touring with artists such as Graham Parker and Juliana Hatfield to playing on Conan O'Brien and Carson Daly and contributing to movie soundtracks such as "The Ice Harvest", "That Thing You Do!" and "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story". Members have won WBCN’s Rock n’ Roll Rumble (a coveted annual battle of Boston’s best original bands) and have performed with Peter Gammons, Bronson Arroyo, and Red Sox GM Theo Epstein at the Hot Stove/Cool Music benefit concerts in Boston.
